Tandem Leaning: Tandem Stretching & Strengthening
- Read the introduction.
- Sit back to back with your tandem partner. You can sit in a wide leg pose or with your legs crossed.
- Lift your arms above your head and link hands with them (similar to picture one only with both hands on bottom or top).
- Use your arms to lean away from them as they lean away from you.
- Pull their arms toward your body while bending forward as they lean away from you.
- Keep leaning away from them as they pull your arms back and away from your body while bending forward.
Reciprocal Lean: Isometric, Concentric, and Eccentric Contractions
| Isometric |
Your arms are isometrically contracting as you and your partner lean away from each other. |
| Concentric |
Your arms are strengthening as you pull their arms toward your body. |
| Eccentric |
Your arms are resistance stretching as they get pulled away from your body. |
| Reciprocal |
The same holds true for your tandem partner. |
