Tandem Leaning: Tandem Stretching & Strengthening

  • Read the introduction.
  • Find a broom stick or something similar.
  • Lay on the ground head to head with your tandem partner.
  • Grab one end of the broom stick as they grab the other end.
  • Lean into the broom stick as they lean into the other side.
  • Push the broom stick back as they continue to lean into it.
  • Keep leaning into the broom stick as they push it back toward you.

Reciprocal Lean: Isometric, Concentric, and Eccentric Contractions

Isometric Your arms are isometrically contracting as you lean into the broom stick while your partner leans back.
Concentric Your arms are strengthening as you push the broom stick away from your body.
Eccentric Your arms are resistance stretching as they push the broom stick toward you.
Reciprocal The same holds true for your tandem partner.
