A unique aspect of the Meridian Flexibility System is that all of the stretches can be reversed to provide strength training. If you find that you want to focus on building strength, you may do self-strength training every day since you are resisting against yourself while doing the self-strength training exercises instead of using weights which provide more weight and force. The self-strength training exercises allow you to regulate and apply a sufficient amount of force while you shorten and contract your muscles. In traditional weight training, you may be using much more weight which would put more strain and stress on your muscles, requiring you to take a day of rest in between work outs.
You could also choose to strength train all of the 16 major muscle groups on one day by reversing the action of each of the 16 stretches, and then resistance flexibility train all of the same muscles the next day, etc. Or, you could do both strengthening and stretching on each muscle group every day. Let your body be the authority. If you feel that you are becoming fatigued and sore, you should probably consider resting in between work outs.
Assisted stretching/strengthening is a different case however. When you are resisting against another person while stretching, you get a much better stretch because it takes twice the force to stretch a muscle than it does to strengthen it. It can be difficult to reach maximal resistance while doing the self-stretches, but quite easy when practicing assisted stretching. One assisted stretching session provides your muscles with quite a work out, and it will probably be a good idea to take a day off in between sessions. It all depends on your body.
